I don’t trust point estimates like 14%. It’s like calculating an average salary and saying it’s $120k. Completely meaningless. What does the actual distribution look like that this was pulled from? No standard deviation. Is it even symmetric? What’s the 10th and 90th percentiles? Just giving a statistic on its own tells me nothing.
It also seems kinda tone deaf. If someone basically told me I was wasting my time and asked what I would do in the future, I would not bother giving them a particularly thoughtful answer because trying to spend effort justifying my life choices to them would be the actual waste of time.

The from-the-hip cameras typically have a waist-level viewfinder, which still is a good approximation of the optical path or you don't and you shoot completely blind. In that case any camera does the trick and so does a phone.
Usually the hip part is so you get a better, more candid, portrait due to being inconspicuous. There's some composition advantage due to the perspective difference too.
I think you also need some form of intermediate storage to be Turing complete.
Not that this example doesn't have intermediate storage... But I suspect you could create or discover a mechanism that is expressive enough to implement any chain of logic gates, but is incapable of expressing storage (can't even use the gates to implement a latch)
I'm also a little dubious of granting the "Truing complete" label to something that can't conditionally terminate.
Maybe you can trick a video codec into looping forever without new key frames (in which case it can never terminate), but most likely this would need to be implemented unrolled, so always terminates after a fixed number of iterations.

More code written is not a good measure of productivity. It could be garbage, or redundant code, or simply not addressing the real or more pressing needs, it could be building the wrong thing, etc.
Like TFA mentions, it's been known for decades LoC is a misleading metric for productivity. It's one of the lessons of software engineering.

In my case, the crashes were from last year to the start of this one. Some were related to AMDGPU, others to my WiFi card driver, so they're pretty recent.

I think he is early, but there is no doubt there is a bubble. It is just a question of what will pop it? One of the big heavily capitalized frontier models throwing in the towel might do it. If Open AI, for examples, starts to fall behind and has trouble with their ipo or their ipo tanks I think that could trigger a crash because a lot of private capital would be exposed if that happens.
Previous technologies eliminated single categories of worker at a time. The machine learning that people are working on these days threatens to replace very broad swaths of the workforce, of many countries, over a very short period of time.
